Paul Buckby has almost 25 years experience in the entertainment world. His career started virtually straight after school in April 1983.
After nearly ten years, he'd been cast in over 30 stage productions.
He has vast experience in television as an actor and presenter, including live broadcast.
He is an accomplished Master of Ceremonies, highlights include:
Two consecutive Miss South Africa pageants at Sun City,
President Thabo Mbeki's Top 100 Achiever Awards.
He is also a qualified auctioneer. He received his auctioneering diploma from the South African College of Auctioneers under Hedley Harris.
He is a dedicated hard worker and apart from acting, he is also an established singer, releasing his first seven single in 1988 with Mountain Records and Paddy Lee Thorpe.
He has performed in most of South Africa's theaters, initially with the former performing arts councils. Now he tours as a solo artist and under Vonk's label.
He now sings in Afrikaans, which he claims is 'long overdue'
M-Net, Franz Marx Films and Vonk recently launched Egoli’s fourth CD ''A Moment’s Born. The CD also features Afrikaans songs like ''Souskleitjies'' and ''Ek is lief vir jou''. The song ''Souskleitjies'' was inspired by an Englishman’s experience(namely Paul's) in an Afrikaans household. ''I dated an Afrikaans girl and her parents couldn’t speak English and I, Afrikaans.
This was the beginning of my initiation into the Afrikaans world of sound, culture and boerekos!'', says Buckby.
Paul says that throughout his career, he has always enjoyed singing. ''Music brings people together. Singing is an effective communication tool".
He has just completed his contract with Mnet's 'Egoli' as Dr. Adam Fischer and is heading off into a new singing phase with his album as Paul Buckby 'Die Soutie'.
